You can always reach the spark plugs.

In an inline engine that is.

If i remember correctly there are some transverse V engines you have to at least loosen the mounts to even get to the plugs, but I cant recall off the top of my head. Then there's longitudinally mounted engines that it seems like the engineers didn't rake in to account that at some point someone will need to change the plugs at some point. Even the v6 in my 05 exploder the plugs are buried under every bloody hose in the engine, and some of them don't like to budge.

The serpentine belt alone is a two person job.

Gerbil tubes. For the gerbils.

My truck respectfully disagrees.

That's not a transverse engine.

Exactly. I can always reach my spark plugs in my Longitudal engine.

You don't know pain until you try to change the back 3 spark plugs on this.

LIES! Had to take off the intake manifold to get to the back three on my sister's V6 Tucson.

While every car I own is a pain in the ass to work on, I have to give Honda credit for the engine bay in the Civic. Look at that - nearly all of the common maintenance and problem items with cars are easy to get to. Air filter = easy, spark plugs = easy, spark plug wires = easy, distributor = easy, O2 sensor = easy, catalytic converter = easy, timing belt = well, I said nearly all of the common maintenance items. And best of all, it's a rock solid reliable Honda, so all of those easy to repair items rarely need to be repaired!

Have you tried? Because that looks like a GM truck engine to me, and when I changed the plugs on my 07 Tahoe I had a helluva time. Sure, plugs 1-7 were easy, but that's how they get you. To change #8, I had to remove the passenger side wheel, remove the wheel well liner, unbolt and remove the heat shield for the A/C accumulator before I could get to it. Even then, I had to use a crow's foot and a low profile T-Bar wrench.

It is and I've done plugs before on a different Silverado. Easy. not sure what you were doing wrong.

You have clearly never seen a transverse V6.

I've put less than $150 of parts into it in three years of ownership, so, yeah. It's been an angel.

The same can't be said for my old 1990 Integra. The Alternator was shoved up in there somewhere and it took quite a long while and some numbed hands to remove it.

You can sometimes reach the spark plugs.
